HELLO!

Hey there! I’m Melissa, owner of little x little photography (read as "little by little"). Most days, you can find me chasing around my 3 little boys, endlessly cleaning up piles of toys and folding tiny clothes, all while trying to find time to sit down and put my feet up!

In 2012 when my first son was born, I decided to invest in my first DSLR camera. As a new mom, I wanted to document and bottle up every milestone in my son’s life. I knew that through the photographs I took, the fleeting moments in his life could be preserved in a beautiful way. Being able to hold onto these memories brought me so much joy and comfort.

I started bringing my camera wherever my son and I went. Before I knew it, friends were asking me to photograph their own children and families. And not long after that, friends of friends were hiring me! This is how my business was born.

Fast forward to today. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing hundreds of families in the southeast Wisconsin area. I am passionate about working with families and carrying out their visions for their idea of a perfect photo session. I have loved serving my clients by documenting their lives in a beautiful way while providing them with memories they can hold onto forever.

I work with families who are looking for a fun, carefree photo session experience. My photography style is “lifestyle”, meaning the majority of photos I take are unplanned, candid, and natural. I look for the real moments, sometimes called the “in-between” moments, that happen as the session unfolds. I specialize in using natural light to create a soft, golden, and magical look in each of the photographs I capture during our session. I photograph authentic moments while keeping things enjoyable and comfortable for everyone involved!

If you are in need of some gorgeous family photos and want to have a stress-free, fun experience, I would love to chat!

Here are 5 more things you might not know about me!

  1. I was a Kindergarten teacher before I had kids.
  2. My favorite show will always be “The Office”.
  3. In my opinion, the BEST restaurant in MKE is Lazy Susan (it’s not easy finding a gluten-free, vegetarian restaurant to love).
  4. I once had a business on Etsy selling hand-knitted and hand-sewn baby items (also called little x little).
  5. I have lived in Milwaukee for the past 15 years.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to connecting with you!
